Katie received her professional training at London Studio Centre having been awarded a three-year fully funded scholarship for her training. During the final year of training Katie was a cast member on a UK tour of the Wildlife Jazz Company. After graduating Katie went on to fulfil a varied career performing professionally in music videos, working with Disney and Hanna Barbera and lead roles such as the role of Maria from "West Side Story" for Carnival Cruise Lines.
Katie’s choreography has been recognised at the Janet Cram awards winning Best Solo Choreography, as well as achieving winning places at the prestigious All England dance finals and the Dance World Cup.
Katie went on to choreograph professional shows both in the UK and in America. Upon retiring from professional dancing Katie returned to the UK and fulfilled her dream of opening her own dance and theatre school.
Katie’s aim is to pass on her knowledge and experience to allow her students the opportunity to reach the best of their abilities and fulfil their dreams. Achievements of past and present students include being associate members of the Royal Ballet School and Tring Park, placing regularly in the All England Dance and Dance World Cup competitions and obtaining scholarships for full time education. Students have also been cast in West End productions. Katie is extremely proud of the success and achievements of all her students.
Prompt Corner is so very valued and each and every child cared for as part of a big family. Every child has something to offer, whose talents lie in different areas. It is our pleasure and dedication in helping each child find their way, building self confidence and awareness, learning a few life lessons along the way.
Classes are offered to children from the age of three. From beginners to advanced as well as preparing young students for a career in the profession.
We appreciate that children may take up dance as their hobby for various reasons such as a confidence builder, fitness and discipline. We understand that enjoyment, fun and the freedom of dance is of great importance while they learn.
Therefore we endeavour to create a happy and caring environment, which in turn provides a sound foundation for their social development and encourages growth in self-confidence.
At the opposite end, for those who might want to pursue a career in theatre, we aim to provide training and support to give those students the best advantage possible.
The Russian Association of Classical Ballet and Theatre Arts is the chosen method taught at Prompt Corner. This method really encourages students to dance with more musicality and expression as well as ensuring a sound and solid technique. Russian ballet is highly regarded at all major dance academies including the Royal Ballet School and White Lodge.
Pupils are encouraged to take examinations on a yearly basis. However these are not obligatory.
Some pupils compete in dance festivals around the country, including the prestigious All England Dance Finals. These competitions are an excellent insight to the standard of dance in the country and prove to be an incredible confidence builder and a wonderful reward for their hard work.
Two soloists from Prompt Corner recently achieved 3rd and 4th places respectively at the Dance World Cup 2016 and in 2017 Amy Finch placed 2nd in Acro! Amazing achievement, we are so proud to have represented England.
2020 Dance World Cup Team England have recently selected two more of our pupils - Leon Metelsky and Rebecca Peacock to represent their Country. So very proud!
Many of our students have gone on to pursue a career in the Arts. Including The Royal Ballet School, Wilkes Academy, Ballet West, Stella Mann and Masters Academy alongside some very prestigious Universities.
The most exciting part of the year for the students! Our shows provide an incredible opportunity for your child to be part of a full show in a professional theatre with full light, sound and fully costumed.
Again this is not obligatory and we try wherever possible to hire costumes and integrate uniform wherever possible so that this opportunity is obtainable for all children.
As well as parents being able to watch the show, you are invited at the end of term to view your child's class.
Children can attend a four- to five-day dance, drama and singing workshop culminating in a performance for family and friends at the end of the week.
