Dance classes, only a step away
Prompt Corner was opened in 2007 by Principal Katie Gill. Having trained in the local area and going on to fulfil a full and varied professional career in the theatre Katie returned to open her own school in her home town. Although a very new school, pupils have already achieved excellent exam results and had much success in competition festivals and auditions.
The school strives for the highest standard of teaching in all aspects of dance and theatre in a warm, friendly and professional atmosphere.
Classes
Classes are offered to children from the age of 3. From beginners to advanced as well as preparing young students for a career in the profession.
We appreciate that children may take up dance as their hobby for various reasons such as a confidence builder, fitness and discipline and we understand that whilst they learn, enjoyment, fun and the freedom of dance is of great importance.
Therefore we endeavour to create a happy and caring environment, which in turn, provides a sound foundation for their social development and encourages growth in self-confidence.
At the opposite end, for those who might want to pursue a career in theatre we aim to provide training and support to give those students the best advantage possible.
The Russian Association of Classical Ballet and Theatre Arts is the chosen method taught at Prompt Corner. This method really encourages students to dance with more musicality and expression as well as ensuring a sound and solid technique. Russian ballet is highly regarded at all major dance academies including the Royal Ballet School and White Lodge.
Exams and festivals
Pupils are encouraged to take examinations on a yearly basis. However these are not obligatory.
Some pupils compete in dance festivals around the country including the prestigious All England Dance Finals. These competitions are an excellent insight to the standard of dance in the Country and prove to be an incredible confidence builder and a wonderful reward for their hard work.
Summer Show
The most exciting part of the year for the students! Our shows provide an incredible opportunity for your child to be part of a full show in a professional theatre with full light, sound and fully costumed.
Again this is not obligatory and we try wherever possible to hire costumes and integrate uniform wherever possible so that this opportunity is obtainable for all children.
As well as parents being able to watch the show, you are invited at the end of term to view your child's class.
Easter and Summer Workshops
Children can attend a 4-5 day dance, drama and singing workshop culminating in a performance for family and friends at the end of the week.
Joining the school
To join the school please contact us to arrange a visit and a complimentary class. Classes are payable weekly for the first 3 weeks to ensure your child is settled before fees are paid termly.
Same applies to uniform. This is purchased through the school, but is not enforced until your child is settled.
